The city of Rimini hosts one of the leading trade fair centres in Italy. The trade fair began in the post-war period to support the city’s tourist and hotel activity to which the city owes its rebirth.
The development of conference tourism and the fact that tour operators needed to work right through the year meant that the trade fair district was used both for fairs and for conferences.
Over recent years the growth of the two markets within one and the same structure led to the need for the construction of a new fair district, the Palacongressi (the Conference Centre) in Rimini.
